Elena Slesarenko
Maths Addaptation Service
Hey there! I'm Elena, a math enthusiast with a passion for helping children who recently moved to the UK feel more confident in school and reduce their stress levels. 🌟
The challenge of studying in a new country isn't just a new language—it involves dealing with the differences in math curricula too! In the UK, many math topics are taught earlier, which can be a surprise for both kids and their parents.
I teach math to kids in Year 5 to Year 9, using the British curriculum, but with a twist: I instruct in Russian, while definitions and exercises are in English. This helps kids build their vocabulary and get used to the school's phrasing smoothly.
My goal? To tackle unfamiliar topics, fill knowledge gaps, and support current schoolwork, making kids feel like math superheroes in class! 💪
A bit about my experience: My first student was my son. He switched from a 3rd-grade Moscow school to Year 5 in an international school in Montenegro in January 2022, armed with just a handful of English words and a list of math topics to study alone. Watching him, I believed he'd manage with the school's help, but jumped in after a month to lend a hand. By the end of Year 7, he aced his math exam, and upon moving to England, he was placed in the top set. In Year 8, he scored 58 out of 60 on his half-year exam! 🚀 Now, I teach other kids too!
My strengths? A systematic approach and flexibility, tailoring lessons to fit each student's needs and abilities.
What I offer: Online lessons, 60 minutes each, for £20 Free knowledge assessment, results analysis, and trial lesson included!
About me: I graduated from Udmurt State Uni... and that's a story for another time! 😉
