The Story Behind KidMathClub: From Personal Need to International Initiative
KidMathClub was born out of a simple, deeply personal need: to provide our own children with high-quality mathematics education. What began as a modest endeavour among friends has since evolved into a dynamic, multinational educational initiative. Our team is a vibrant community of professionals hailing from the United Kingdom, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Bulgaria. Though we come from diverse backgrounds, our paths converged in the UK, where many of us relocated to pursue careers in the IT sector. It was here, amidst our professional lives, that we encountered a common challenge—the need to ensure our children received a rigorous and engaging mathematical education. Initially, we began teaching within our immediate circles—among friends, colleagues, and their families. Yet, what started informally soon flourished into a full-fledged educational project, driven by both passion and growing demand.
Services
At the heart of our methodology lies the concept of the mathematical circle—an educational tradition with deep roots in the post-Soviet academic landscape. This approach, which emphasises exploration, problem-solving, and collaborative discovery, has proven immensely successful in nurturing mathematical talent. Due to waves of emigration, this model has gained traction in other parts of the world, particularly in the United States.
Our move to the United Kingdom gave our project a unique direction. Firstly, it highlighted the fundamental differences in pedagogical philosophies between educational systems. This realisation allowed us to blend the strengths of both: the depth and rigour of the Eastern European mathematical tradition, with the creativity and individual focus characteristic of Western education.
Today, KidMathClub stands as a testament to what can be achieved when passionate educators from around the globe unite around a common goal: to inspire the next generation of mathematical thinkers.
